McMurtry car company from Gloucestershire won the famous Goodwood hill climb with their all-electric Spierling. The compact hypercar traveled 39.08 seconds, surpassing the previous Volkswagen ID.R record set in 2019 by 0.8 seconds*.
An electric powertrain with approximately 1,000 hp gave the hypercar incredible acceleration. Claimed acceleration time from 0 to 60 mph is less than two seconds.
McMurtry Spierling is more than just power. The tiny proportions of just 1.1 meters high, 3.5 meters long and 1.7 meters wide combined with the carbon fiber body give it a dead weight of less than 1000kg. Advanced aerodynamics produce 2,000kg of downforce, allowing it to effectively suppress all that power, and the lack of weight means the EV can travel over 480km on a single charge.
McMurtry also said it plans to make Spierling road legal.
