The first model from the Japanese with a full hybrid drive combines a 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine with 68 kW / 92 hp, an electric motor with 59 kW / 80 hp. and a lithium-ion battery. The system output is 85 kW/116 hp, combined cycle WLTP fuel consumption is 3.8 to 4.0 liters per 100 kilometers, which corresponds to CO₂ emissions of 87 to 93 g/km.
When starting the car uses only the electric motor. While driving, the electric motor supports the internal combustion engine. When braking, the electric motor becomes a generator and restores energy.
The new Mazda2 Hybrid will be available in three trim levels Pure, Agile and Select. Standard equipment includes automatic climate control, a 7-inch audio system with smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, hands-free system with voice control and Bluetooth, steering wheel control buttons, driver's mode selector, central locking with radio remote control, electric power windows at the front and LED combination taillights.
Also standard are a pre-collision safety system with active braking intervention, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams and hill start assist.
