American premium brand Cadillac launches its first all-electric car LYRIQ. For a starting price of $62,990 (€56,700), you get a range of over 300 miles and a special charging offer. Delivery of the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ Debut Edition is scheduled for summer 2022. Other versions of the model will follow.

RWD and AWD models of the LYRIQ will be available to order starting May 19, with the first rear-wheel-drive models arriving in autumn. Rear-wheel drive starts at €56,700, has a range of over 300 miles, and delivers 340hp. at 440 Nm. The all-wheel drive model costs about 1800 euros more and has 500hp. An all-wheel-drive model range has yet to be announced, and deliveries won't begin until early 2023. The all-wheel drive model also has a trailer load of 1,500 kg.

Since its introduction, LYRIQ has attracted a lot of attention with its stunning design and impressive performance. The 12-module 100kWh battery provides decent range and can be topped up with a 19.2kW AC charger or up to 190kW DC fast charging. And all this for little money by electric standards. Four signature exterior colors are available: Luxury Blue Metallic, Crystal White Metallic, Brushed Steel Metallic, and Star Black Metallic.

The interior is dominated by a 33-inch LED screen that houses driver information, navigation and infotainment. A 19-speaker sound system, built-in Google system and intelligent noise reduction complete the uniqueness of this model.

LYRIQ is manufactured at GM's plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee, where €1.8 billion has been invested in retooling production lines. Another 2 billion euros will be used to build its own battery manufacturing plant at the same location, which will be operated by Ultium Cells LLC, a joint venture between GM and LG Energy Solutions.
