Jidu will introduce a limited edition of its first model in October

Jidu Auto, Baidu's automotive division, plans to introduce a production version of its first model in November, but before that, a limited series will be introduced.

The company will launch a limited edition of its first model ROBO-01 in cooperation with the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program in October, the version will be released in a limited edition of 1000 units, and owners will receive exclusive benefits.

This is a historic cooperation between advanced human science and technology and smart cars 3.0, Jidu said, adding that the two sides will carry out in-depth cooperation on artificial intelligence and interstellar exploration in the future.

The company will focus on high-level autonomous driving and artificial intelligence technology research and development, and continuously promote the application of advanced technologies, he said.

Jidu will build models based on Geely's Sustainable Experience architecture platform and Baidu's autonomous driving technologies. The company plans to officially launch a limited version of its first production model in the fall of 2022, with the production model boasting 90 percent similarity to the ROBO-01 concept, with official deliveries expected in the second half of 2023, as previously reported.

The regular version of the ROBO-01 is expected to be unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2022, when Jidu also plans to unveil the exterior of its second production car.

Orders for the second model will begin taking orders in 2023, with deliveries starting in 2024, according to information previously announced by the company. The first Jidu pilot center will open in Shanghai within a year, and by 2023, its sales network will cover 46 cities in China with 100 stores.
