Mercedes doubles sales of electric vehicles

Consumer demand remains strong

Customer demand remains strong in all regions, especially for top-end luxury cars and electric vehicles, the manufacturer said in a recent statement.

The star brand continues to ramp up production and sales of all-electric vehicles. In the second quarter, sales of all-electric Mercedes-EQ cars nearly doubled to 23,500 units (+90%). Deliveries of xEV models (PHEV and BEV, including smart) increased to 65,400 units (+2%). With the launch of other high-volume models such as the EQE, battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales rose 134% to 45,400 units in the first half of 2022. xEV shipments reached 139,600 units (+14%) worldwide in the same period. This allowed Mercedes-Benz, as well as other manufacturers such as BMW, to significantly expand sales of electric vehicles.
