The new Ora Funky Cat has gone on sale in the UK and orders for the new electric car start at £30,495.

Ora, owned by Chinese car giant Great Wall, said it has received a lot of interest in the Funky Cat and says other variants of the car will hit the UK market in 2023 in addition to the First Edition model. The brand says it plans to open a retail chain in the UK, but will launch an online sales platform by August, followed by the first Funky Cats in the fall.

The First Edition uses the model's smaller battery pack, a 48kWh underfloor battery that provides a maximum range of 193 miles on a full charge, combined with 80kW DC fast charging and 11kW three-phase AC charging. A 63 kWh battery model with a range of up to 261 miles is under development.

Standard equipment on the First Edition includes adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree top-down camera and rear view camera, LED headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, there is heated and electric seat adjustment, as well as wireless smartphone charging, and there is also an infotainment system. Four paint colors will be offered.

Buyers will also be able to choose between a 48 kWh or 63 kWh battery, the larger of which offers a maximum claimed range of 261 miles. The car's electrical system also supports 80kW fast charging, which means a 63kWh unit can be charged to 80 percent in 50 minutes.

Inside, there's a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment system mounted in one seamless 20.5-inch unit mounted on top of the car's dashboard.
