Electric truck manufacturer Nikola Motor built 50 Tre BEV trucks in the second quarter and delivered 48 of them to its dealers. By the end of the year, the volume of production should be significantly increased.

Serial production of Nikola Tre BEV began only at the end of March. Thus, the company is still in the early stages of serial production, which somewhat classifies the current production figures from the quarterly report.

According to the annual report, Nikola is on track to produce 300 to 500 Tre BEV units by the end of 2022. To achieve this goal, the company intends to increase Coolidge's capacity to five units per shift by November. The second phase of the plant expansion is underway and is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2023.

Nikola also started building the first beta versions of Tre FCEV at Coolidge. Nikola also built the first alpha versions of the Tre BEV for the European market in the second quarter as part of its joint venture with Iveco and plans to start series production in the second half of 2023. The joint venture also built the first beta version of the Tre FCEV for Europe, with production expected in the first half of 2024.

A few days ago, Nikola entered into an agreement to acquire American battery manufacturer Romeo Power.
