It is assumed that the new company will produce cars under the new brand from 2025. Honda will be responsible for the "automotive" part of the project (engines, suspensions, etc.), and Sony will create the "firmware" (multimedia complex, autopilot system, etc.).

“We shared the view that in the long run it is better to make the joint venture independent than to subordinate it to Sony or Honda,” said Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida.

There are no details about the new project of the two Japanese giants yet. It is possible that when creating a car, the main focus will not be on selling cars to private customers, but on a subscription system, short-term rentals, unmanned taxis, etc. “Mobility is becoming more of a service,” said Kenichiro Yoshida.

Sony announced its desire to start producing cars for several more years. And at the beginning of 2020, the Sony Vision-S 01 concept was even shown.
