Volkswagen does not indicate how high performance is at the start of series production. It is known that 1750 ID.4 units will be produced per week. The vehicles currently in production are expected to be delivered in October, according to VW. Later, three-shift production should increase to 10,000 units per month.

Initially, the ID.4 will only be produced with a large battery, customers have a choice between a 150kW rear-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive version - since the ID.4 GTX is not mentioned, this will likely be the 195kW one MEB all-wheel drive option. The rear-wheel drive model with a smaller battery is scheduled to start production in 2022.

In terms of battery, the battery's large capacity is 82kWh, of which 77kWh is usable - VW uses this information when communicating with customers in Europe. The smaller battery is listed in the US release as 62 kWh, which corresponds to the usable 58 kWh battery known from ID.3.

We are just starting to write a new chapter for Volkswagen in America, and this is an entirely American story. This is another milestone in Volkswagen's ambitious strategy to electrify the US and global markets
