Volkswagen has partnered with the famous Star Wars franchise. The first fruits of the collaboration were two unique special Light Side Editions based on the passenger model, as well as a Dark Side Edition made from a van. The cars were timed to coincide with the release of the Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+.
Volkswagen ID.Buzz Light Side Edition, as you might guess from the name, refers to the Light side of the force. The body is made in two colors: the lower part is beige, like the tunic of the protagonist of the series Obi-Wan Kenobi. The blue color hints at the lightsaber of the Jedi.
The Dark Side Edition is its antipode and represents the Dark Side of the Force. The color palette is inspired by the attire of the Sith, and more specifically, by Darth Vader himself. The combination of black and red colors, coupled with the logos of the Empire, turned out to be very successful. When the special versions will go on sale and what their price tag will be, has not yet been reported.
Earlier, the Volkswagen ID.4 GTX crossover was able to conquer the Bolivian volcano Uturunka, setting a new Guinness record for the highest height that an electric car climbed. Electric vehicles have many advantages over internal combustion engine cars in the mountains, as they do not lose power from thin air as a result of oxygen starvation. In many ways, this is what helps electric cars perform very well in mountain races like Pikes Peak, where ICE cars lose power closer to the top.
