Megafactory Ola manufactures two-wheeled vehicles, which, for the most part, are entirely made in India. Production will soon include a scooter battery that Ola Electric designed and engineered in-house.

The CEO of Ola Electric has released a picture of a lithium-ion battery, which is the first battery manufactured in-house by the company. By 2023 Ola hopes to begin mass production of NMC(Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt) cell 21700 at its Gigafactory. The company also said that the company's plan for cellular technology will be expanded. This suggests that starting 2023, Ola will assemble its batteries using its own cells, which may reduce the cost of the battery as a whole.

On the cathode side of this Ola cell are nickel, manganese and cobalt (NMC), and on the anode side - silicon and graphite. The cell's ability to store more energy in a given area and increase its overall lifespan is made possible by the precise chemistry and materials used. Ola claims that this camera was built with the weather in India in mind, meaning it must withstand the sweltering summer heat. According to Ola, the total cost of ownership for owners will drop significantly if the new cell can hold more charge. However, the company did not provide any technical details about this new battery.

Ola Electric is currently purchasing batteries for its electric scooters from LG Chem in South Korea. The most expensive part of an electric car is the battery, and making it in-house can cut prices by about 30%.
